Thomas L. Festervan, 75, known by Tommy to his family and friends, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Tommy was born on August 31, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Rex and Ernie Festervan. He graduated from Woodlawn High School. He served in the United States Navy and served three tours in Vietnam on the USS Ranger. Tommy came home and met the love of his life. He married Dona (Gross) Festervan on June 21, 1975. They spent 48 wonderful years together. They had two beautiful daughters, Tammy Meshell and Teresa Festervan. He started his career 37 years ago at Bearing Service & Supply. He was one of the best machinist in Shreveport. He worked up until the day before his death. People always told him he needed to retire, but he loved his job and co-workers. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Tommy lived for his family! Sunday dinners with his children, grandchildren, brother, nieces and nephews is how he loved spending his weekends. You could always catch him sitting at the dinner table telling stories with his baby brother to the younger generation about their summers at Lake Ouachita, getting into mischief in Garden Valley, or all their summers spent in Camden, Arkansas. Every summer you could find him at Orange Beach with his entire family. He loved this trip with all his grandkids and extended family. He would come home from the beach, only to turn around about a month later and head to Lake Greeson. He would sit for hours and hours with his brother on his boat and be the spotter for all those kids skiing and tubing. Sometimes, those two would get a little rough and you could see the belly laughs coming from the two of them.
Tommy is survived by his wife Dona;. daughters, Tammy (Wayland) Meshell of Stonewall, Louisiana; Teresa Festervan of Keithville, Louisiana. His grandchildren were his greatest blessings, Dayna (Edward) Sepulvado, Mark Meshell, Cheyenne Meshell, and Jersey Doyle; and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Aiden Sepulvado.
