Funeral services celebrating the life of Tom Billy Dodson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at First United Methodist Church of Logansport, 401 Gum St, Logansport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Nancy Wofford. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Malakoff Cemetery, in Malakoff, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana.
Tom was born on March 1, 1933, in Malakoff, Texas to Dewey and Pearl Dodson and entered into rest on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Tom served in the United States Army as a Company Clerk in the Headquarters Division. His rank when he discharged was Corporal. Tom held many different career titles during his lifetime: Agriculture Teacher, Basketball Coach, Cattle Farmer, and Supervisor of Special Education Services in DeSoto Parish. He also served two terms as a DeSoto Parish School Board Member.
Preceding him in death are his parents; three brothers; and three sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carolyn Dodson; daughters, Melissa Rutherford (Rodney), Nori Arbuckle (Ricky), Angie Ramsey, and Cara Springer (Kelly); sister, Sallye Sanford; grandchildren, Lenzi Beal (James), Brandon Heard (Taylor), Nikki Lozano (George), Rachel Arbuckle, Daniel Arbuckle (Brook), Blake Arbuckle (Larissa), Kristin Ramsey, Lauren Ramsey, Katelyn Ramsey, Jake Boggs, Calli Boggs, and Blayne Springer; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Honoring Tom as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Brandon Heard, Daniel Arbuckle, Jake Boggs, Blayne Springer, and Blake Arbuckle.
