Tony Sawyer Hudgins

Tony Sawyer Hudgins was born on July 15, 1946, in Charleston, South Carolina, to George and Flora Lee Hudgins and passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Shreveport at the age of 77. He spent most of his career in management with Walmart and later designed geothermal systems.

After a catastrophic spinal cord injury during an accident in 2014, Tony’s determination to resume an active life and his perseverance were a source of inspiration to many. Tony was an exemplar of never giving up, no matter how difficult one’s circumstances or physical limitations were.

Tony was passionate about classic cars and was a fixture at local car shows. He owned many sports and classic cars in his lifetime. His most recent project was a ‘56 Ford Truck Street Rod, which was featured in several car enthusiast magazines. After it became too difficult for Tony to attend car shows in person, he wrote a weekly email to his friends detailing the car shows in the region for them to attend with their cars.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Jeanne Hudgins, of Shreveport, and his loving son, Alan Hudgins, of Memphis, Tennessee.
