Truman Plummer Blue

On Tuesday, July 27, 2021 Truman Plummer Blue, father of one child, and grandfather passed away at the age of 77. Truman was born in Pleasant Hill on August 6, 1943 to Earl and Lexie Blue. On September 23, 1963 he married Elizabeth "Maxine" Hoard of Logansport, Louisiana and they settled in Stanley, Louisiana. They reared one daughter, Julie Elyse Blue, and assisted in rearing two grandchildren, Bradly Scott McCollum and Cody Preston Harris. After 43 years of employment as a detailed weldsman, Truman retired from Riley Beaird Industries in Shreveport, Louisiana. Truman's love of fishing, hunting and the great outdoors was encouraged by Elmon Duncan Hoard, and Truman passed along his knowledge and mentored several in the love of nature and outdoor sports including his daughter, grandsons, and nephew, Casey Hannigan. Truman was a family man and enjoyed chatting with anyone. If he picked on you he loved you. Truman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time outside "messing around" on the tractor and in the shop with woodwork and welding belt buckles, cowbells and anything else. Over his lifetime he raised cattle, chickens, rabbits, and became quite the farmer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and never turned down ice cream, or banana pudding. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 38 years Elizabeth "Maxine" Blue, and three sibling, Kenneth Ray Blue, Barbara Ann Bailey, and Clydia Faye McDonald. He is survived by his daughter Julie Elyse Blue, and grandsons, Bradly Scott McCollum and partner Donnie Joe Cox, and Cody Preston Harris and wife Meghan Gray Harris along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of Truman's life will be held on July 30, with visitation held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Logansport located at 1009 Gum Street, at 12 o'clock p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1 o'clock p.m. The internment will be held at the Brookland Cemetery in Joaquin, Texas. His presence we will miss; his memory we will treasure. Pall Bearers will included grandsons, Bradly McCollum and Cody Harris, nephew Casey Hannigan, Donnie Cox, David Cox, and Jeff Heard. Honorary Pallbearers are George Gingles, Jeff Rees, Billy Joe Farmer, Ronnie Hannigan, and Delmer Rigsby. Memorial gifts can be made in Truman's memory to Central School Corporation, or a foundation supporting Parkinson's disease or Lupas. The Enchanted Florist is the families florist of choice. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4)
