Valda Ruth Matthews

Funeral services celebrating the life of Valda Ruth Matthews will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Bro. Billy Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Social Springs Cemetery in Ringgold, Louisiana. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Rose-Neath prior to the service.

Valda Ruth was born December 1, 1936, and left her earthly life and met her Lord and Savior March 12, 2023, in Ringgold, Louisiana. She was a very dedicated homemaker, but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isiah “Ike” Matthews, grandson, Matthew Kyle Norred, and sister Barbara Spradley.

She is survived by her daughters, Kay Norred and husband Kenneth Norred and Linda Griffin and husband Rodney Griffin all of Ringgold; sister, Faye Hall of Logansport; grandchildren, Kane Norred and wife Kari of Ringgold, Katie Ley and husband Drew Ley of Benton, and great grandchildren, Ava, Vivian, Jackson, and Ella Norred of Benton, and Kade Norred of Ringgold, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kane Norred, Ethan Mackey, Lee Hall, Clay Hinds, Cole Hinds, and Ricky Hinds.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Sammy Matthews, Johnathan Matthews, and Michael Matthews.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
