SHREVEPORT, LA- Graveside services for Valeria Woodell Webb, 88, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, Shreveport, LA, with a reception to follow. Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA.
Valeria was born in Cove, AR on June 21, 1926 to Leslie and Freda Forehand Woodell and passed away on March 15, 2015 in Shreveport, LA. She met her future husband, Joe Webb, when he came into her father's general store. Joe was a telegrapher for the Kansas City Southern Railway and had been assigned to work a temporary vacancy in Cove. They were married May 5, 1946 and moved to Kansas City, MO. Later they moved to Pittsburg, KS and Heavener, OK. While living in Heavener, she was involved in The Order of the Eastern Star and Heavener Women's Club. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, a member of the Heavener High School Band Parents Club, and a member of Heavener's First Presbyterian Church. The family moved to Shreveport in 1964 and became members of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and as an Elder. She received the Lifetime Member Award of Presbyterian Women.
The family later became members of Shreveport's First Presbyterian Church, where Valeria was an active circle member. She was a member of the Broadmoor Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the C.E. Byrd High School Band Parents Club and the Captain Shreve High School Band Parents Club. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Fleur de Lis flower club. She also enjoyed her friendship with the members of the KCS Railway Retiree's Club.
Mrs. Webb is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Webb, and her daughter, Carolyn Webb Warner. She is survived by son, Dennis Webb (Susan) of Shreveport, LA; son-in-law, Bill Warner of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Jennifer Poe Umphress (Christian) of Keller, TX, Christopher Warner (Christy) of Haltom City, TX, Nancy Webb Greco (Beau) of Rock Spring, GA, Steven Webb of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Katherine Umphress, Lake and Lyla Warner, and Caleb and Hallie Greco.
Honoring Valeria as pallbearers will be Christopher Warner, Steven Webb, Christian Umphress, Beau Greco, Mark McCrocklin and Elton Richey.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Scott McRight and Dr. Jina Miller and the staff of Emeritus Retirement Center for their compassionate care.
