Funeral services for Betsy Terry , 88, will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Zimmerman and Pastor Ken McLaren.

Betsy was born on January 18, 1936 to Donald Rector and Doris Thomas Rector in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away peacefully, surrounded by many of her loved ones, on Thursday, September 12, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Betsy was a 1954 graduate of Fair Park High School. She did secretarial work until the time of her marriage to William Douglas “Doug” Terry in 1956 . At that point, Betsy’s true talents as a homemaker began to shine. Not only did she make the best fried pies of all time, but her sewing abilities were unparalleled. Betsy also enjoyed painting of any kind. She could often be found painting watercolors or painting the living room. Betsy was fiercely patriotic, holding the American flag in the highest esteem. Her love for country was surpassed only by the love she had for her Lord and her family.

Betsy is preceded in death by her husband, Doug Terry; parents, Donald Rector and Doris Rector Lee; sister-in-law, Betty Bjorklund; brothers-in-law, Bob Flowers and Glen Bjorklund. She is survived by her sister, Carol Flowers; daughter, Veda Westby (Gary); son, Hamp Terry (Debbie); grandchildren, Kenneth Howard (Rachel Kot), Kevin Howard (Kari), Robin Owens (Elijah), Audrey Willinger (Matt), and Britt Westby; great-grandchildren, Sadie Howard, Olivia Owens, and Winnie Howard and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Honoring Betsy as pallbearers will be Kevin Flowers, Steve Flowers, Kevin Howard, Elijah Owens, Henry Smith, Britt Westby, and Matt Willinger.

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Village Health Care at the Glen for the years of care given to both Doug and Betsy. Also appreciated are the staff at Willis Knighton Pierremont and The Carpenter House hospice for their kindness and attentiveness shown to Betsy and the family. Most especially, the Terry family expresses its undying thankfulness to Quisha Davis and Henry Smith, for being Betsy’s caregivers, supporters, prayer warriors, cheerleaders, and givers of unconditional love.

The family suggests memorials may be made to: Teen Missions International, attention Steve and Gay Petersen, 885 East Hall Road, Merritt Island, Florida 32953.
