Vickie Ivena Adkins Sims, 76, of Bossier City, Louisiana passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at The Old Brownlee Community Care Center in Bossier City, Louisiana.

She was born on August 2, 1948 at the Smith Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky to the late J.B. and Josephine Norvell Adkins. Vickie was a member of the Airline Drive Church of Christ in Bossier City.

Vickie was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie. She is survived by her son, Shane Sims and wife, Joy of Kansas City; sister, Lorna Brewster and husband, Andrew of Haughton Louisiana; sister-in-law, Lena Adkins of London, Kentucky; two nephews, Ben Brewster of Haughton, Louisiana and Chris Adkins of Richmond, Kentucky; two nieces, Sheila Adkins Underwood of Dallas, Texas and Andrea Brewster Harris of Haughton, Louisiana.

Vickie grew up in Kentucky on the Adkins Farm in Laurel County and returned to live there for ten years after her retirement from the Kansas public schools. Health concerns forced her to move to Ohio to be near her sister, Lorna, in 2019. The family then moved to Louisiana in May of 2021. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Scott Cemetery near London, Kentucky with Andrew Brewster, retired minister, and Ben Brewster, minister of the Airline Drive Church of Christ in Bossier City officiating.
