A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Ms. Vinet Marie Keno on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Marksville, located at 121 South Preston Street. Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Paul Whittington, O.P. officiating.
Vinet M. Keno, age 59, of New Orleans, Louisiana, entered into rest on February 5, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born in Pineville, Louisiana on September 22, 1964, to Nola and Charles Whittington, Sr.
Vinet was the oldest of five children. She was baptized at an early age at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Marksville and attended Marksville Catholic School. Vinet was a 1982 Marksville High School graduate and proudly served in the U.S. Army for four years.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Whittington, Sr. and mother, Nola Whittington; brother, Charles Whittington, Jr., sister, Christine Whittington; maternal grandparents, Horace and Theresa Ford and Otis and Jackie Small, and paternal grandparents, Dupre and Essie Whittington.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Terence Shockley, Jr. (Jamie) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Dereck Shockley (Brieanna) of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter, Brittany Savoie (Journe’) of Lafayette, Louisiana; one brother, Fr. Paul Whittington, O.P. of Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Keila Whittington of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania; and four bonus children, Corey and Kimberly Bettevy, and Ian and Taj Herrera, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held in the chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Monday, February 12, 2024, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and lasting until 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow Mass at Holy Ghost Catholic Cemetery.
