Virgie L. Lee

Frierson, LA - Virgie LaNell Free Lee age 83, passed away at her home on May 18, 2020 in Frierson, Louisiana. Mrs. Lee was born to Truly and Martha Free on March 6, 1937 in Marthaville, Louisiana. She graduated from Marthaville High School and then graduated from Northwest State University in Registered Nursing. She met the love of her life, James Lee and they had two beautiful children together. She moved to New Orleans to acquire her Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthetist. She came back to Shreveport, LA and worked at DeSoto General Hospital in Mansfield, LA for over 31 years. They are founding members of Kingston Baptist Church in Frierson, LA. She enjoyed traveling and cooking for her family. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Lee; children, Steve Lee and wife Lynda, Kirk Lee; grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Hutchings, LaShea Hall and husband Trey Hall, Sonja Lee; four great granddaughters; sister, Hazel Franklin and nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Reverend Buddy Puryear will be officiating the service. Graveside services will follow at Jennings Chapel Congregational Church Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. Friends may sign the guest book at Rose Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Honoring Mrs. Lee as pallbearers will be Chad Franklin, Michael Free, Jr., Franklin Utz, Jr., Bubba Smith, Wade Free, Bobby Weeks, Trey Hall and Austin Hall. Honoring her as honorary pallbearers will be Stan Bacque, Todd Free and Aaron Free. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gloria Daniels, Kassie Daniels, Susan Martin, Destiny Martin and Melonie Grant.
