Virgil was a Veteran of the USAF Special Services, he worked many years in Feed Mill Operations as a laborer then supervisor of Purina, SFA, Charles's Feed and Seed, and Keithville Co-op. As Deacon of Carmel BC his last few years centered around the needs of his church and sharing the goodness of Jesus with family and friends.
Virgil was not only a respected patriarch of his family but also his community. He always had the coffee pot on and was willing to help anyone who needed it. More times than not you could find him on the back porch talking to the Lord several times a day. His quick wit, keen sense of humor, and practical jokes kept everyone on their toes. Virgil loved his wife, children, and grandchildren more than life itself. He was not only a friend to the people in his community, but to every stray dog that stepped foot in his yard. He loved his dog's Freckles, Baby Girl and Stray and in turn they loved him. Oh and let's not forget his multitude of humming birds.
Anyone who knew Virgil knew he loved to garden. It was once said he could grow peas on an asphalt road and potatoes on a rock. And he never saw a flower he didn't love.
