HOMER, LA: Graveside services for Virginia Goocher Bailey Furlow, 76, of Homer were held at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Atkins Cemetery on Highway 9 South of Homer with Reverend R.B. Moore officiating.
Virginia passed away on March 13, 2018. She was born November 9, 1941, in Summerfield, LA, to Alibelle Raley Goocher and S.G. Goocher. She graduated from Summerfield High School and LA Tech University earning a Bachelors and Masters plus 30 degrees in education. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church volunteering in many capacities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Theo Wasson Raley and Clarence Raley, Dixie Alexander Goocher and John Goocher; her first husband of 27 years, Drew Bailey, and; her second husband of 27 years, Dan Furlow.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Bailey Lee with husband, Butch of Homer and Kim Bailey Barnette of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Jenna Thompson with husband, Shane, Lindy Dressel with husband, Aaron, Dusty Williams with husband, Jared; great-grandchildren Jack-Hutson Thompson and Bailey Drew Williams; and stepson, Mark Furlow with wife, Candee and their children, Allee, Alex, and Garrett.
Visitation preceded the service at the Atkins Cemetery beginning at 4:00 PM. Friends and relatives are invited. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Homer.
The following young men honored Ginny as pallbearers: David Haynes, Marcus Harmon, Daniel Bays, Pat Abshire, Stephen Dowies, Hunter Heckel, Trent Newell, Ryan Harmon, and Hunter Spillers.
If desired, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Homer, First United Methodist Church in Summerfield, or Claiborne Academy.
