W. L. Marney

Graveside Services for W.L. Marney, 84, will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd. in Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother David Venable.

W.L. Marney was born on April 22, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Elbert McKinley Marney and Mary Elizabeth Marney and passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Keithville.

W.L. spent his career working as an electrician for Lucent (formerly Western Electric and AT&T) for 28 years. He served in the Army for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on family property with tractors and heavy equipment, and enjoying time with his granddaughters when they were children.

W.L. is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Mary Marney; siblings, Freeda Harrington, Elberta Johnson, Annie Mae Marney, Elbert Marney, Brooks Marney and J.C. Marney. Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Ella Finch Marney; children, Marye Michelle White of Slidell, LA, Brent Marney of Shreveport, LA, and Samantha Marney of Gonzales, LA; grandchildren, Macy Howard of Baton Rouge, LA, and McKinley Howard of Manchester, England; siblings, Billy Marney of Newport, NC, Eudora Dunham of Yukon, OK; and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Finch, Steve Finch, Ben Finch, Ronnie Finch, and J.P. Finch.
