Funeral services honoring the life of Wade Stovall, age 36, will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Athens, LA, with Bro. Eddie Ballance officiating. Burial will follow at Old Athens Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
Wade was born on October 14, 1987, in Shreveport, LA, to Marion Gene Stovall and Peggy New Stovall. He entered into heavenly rest on September 30, 2024, in Athens, LA. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, and would often ride his 4-wheeler or side by side to fish in Lee’s pond. He also enjoyed playing video games, playing with people all over the world. Wade was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age. He loved all the members dearly and was loved by all of them.
He would sneak his dog, Trump, in his room when he thought no one was looking. Trump was a stray that just showed up, but he and Wade quickly became best buds. Wade never met a stranger and had a Big Heart. He would give you anything he had. He was a good listener and would talk for hours on the phone trying to make someone feel better.
Wade had seizures almost all of his life. He didn’t get to do things most kids got to do, but he didn’t complain. He would just say, “that’s ok”, and accept that it was the way it was meant to be. He had a great sense of humor and would make you laugh. He loved people and loved being around people, especially his buddies at the camp.
Wade is preceded in death by his grandparents, D.V. and Maude Stovall and A.B. New, Jr. and Emogene Lawrence New.
Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Peggy and Marion Stovall; sister, Ranelle Johnson and husband Matthew; special friends, Seth Greene, Kyler Grice, Garrison Williams, Josh Moro, and Dale and Kimberly Wheeler; and by all members of the Leathermon Creek Hunting Club.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clay Keene, Matthew Johnson, Jeff McNeill, Chris Ross, Patrick Manion, Steven “J.R.” Davidson, Kyle Anderson, and Seth Greene.
