Wallace Lynn Stanberry left this world on April 25, 2023, after a significant year long fight. (Would he have had it any other way?!)
Wallace Lynn Stanberry came “flying” into this world on October 10, 1955, in Shreveport, LA. The energetic, younger son of Wallace and Dorothy Stanberry, Lynn attended Fair Park High School and then LSU. He worked for Arkla Gas until his father asked for help in the family Oil and Gas Business. They had a relationship like no other, working together for over 30 yrs. He met the love of his life, Debbie Coggins Stanberry, and they had one child, Leslie Stanberry Jones, while working in Amarillo, TX.
Lynn had the biggest heart, helping people, family, and working with Abundant Life Ministries in Honduras. Lynn was an avid pilot and found solace and joy in the sky. His love of the outdoors, fishing, and hunting is imprinted on his daughter and grandsons. He had many business ventures through the years. His “think outside of the box” mentality was one of his great strengths. You could never tell him that it couldn’t be done. He would find a way, if for no other reason than to prove you wrong. He was stubborn and hard-headed, but those who knew him best would say he was the most giving, loving teddy bear in the world. He never met a stranger, and his boisterous personality was one of the first things you noticed. His daughter and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was loud and proud of Leslie and his grandbabies. There was never a want or need for them that “Pap” didn’t fulfill. To know him was to love him, and if you loved him, the reciprocation was steadfast and true. He read his Bible daily and loved the Lord. He will never be forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, Wallace and Dorothy Stanberry. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Stanberry Jones, husband Don Jones, Jr, and his grandchildren, Cohen Wallace, Cary William, and Camille Jane-Louise Jones; his brother, Mike Stanberry and wife, Debbie; his “other daughter,” Rachel Jones Powell and husband, Dustin Powell, children, Brianna Barber, and Aston Powell; as well as many other family members and friends that could be listed for days.
Chaperoning him to his final resting place will be pallbearers, Jeremy Jones, Mark Myers, Todd Stanberry, Thomas Drygas, Matt Faulkner, and Dustin Powell.
Many thanks to Tammy Cassidy for providing not only care for the past year, but also tender conversations and joy. He loved you so very much. Carting him to the barber shop, and Hobby Lobby for airplane models made his heart sing.
Thanks to The Glen staff and nurses for loving my daddy, knowing his preferences, and honoring him in the end.
Thank you to Lifepath Hospice nurses Leslie and Kelsey – you ladies have found your calling.
