Walter Dale Garrison, Jr.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate the life of Walter Dale Garrison, 73, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday June 4, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Chaplin Austin Green.

Walter was born April 13, 1950, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Walter Dale Garrison, Sr. and Joanne Keiser Weiers. He passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Walter served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1971. He moved to Shreveport in 1981 from Kalamazoo, Michigan for General Motors. He retired from General Motors after 38 years, where he worked as an electrician. Walter had a passion for aviation and was a Commercial Rated Pilot with several ratings including IFR, SeaPlane, and Multi-Engine. He owned more than 30 airplanes over the years. He always had a project aircraft he was upgrading and finished his last just before passing. He mentored several pilots over the years and was always eager to share the world of Aviation to others. Since his retirement, he had become a fixture at the Shreveport Downtown Airport, always helping someone with their plane or talking shop.  

Walter is preceded in death by his father, Walter Dale Garrison, Sr. He Is survived by his mother, JoAnne Weiers; wife, Judith Garrison; daughters, Tammy Merry, Kecia Garrison, and Misty Moore; grandchildren, Marshall Henderson, Daniel Elkins, William Elkins Charles “CJ” Worthy, Jr.; brother, David Garrison; and sister, Sandy Smith.
