Walter Edward Smithey

Walter Edward Smithey Sr. was born in Heflin, Louisiana on June 12, 1928 to O.J. Smithey Sr. and Arie Yates Smithey. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 48 years, Anna Fowler Smithey; three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his son, Eddie Smithey; daughter, Charlotte S. Beadles; grandsons, John Beadles and wife, Lesley, Michael Beadles, and Benjamin Beadles; and his second wife of 18 years, Patricia Collins Smithey.

Walter was in the Army division during the Korean War where he ran the carpenter shop. This started his love for working with his hands in construction. He built many premier homes in the Shreveport area. Walter loved spending time with his family on camping trips, league bowling, and numerous cruises. He loved being outdoors whether tending to his garden or mowing grass.

Walter served as a deacon at Woodlawn Baptist Church and Broadmoor Baptist Church. He was an active member in Earl Lindanger men's Gideon Sunday School Class.

This kind, gentle, and loving man will be truly missed!

Funeral Services will be in Memorial Chapel at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Officiating the service will be Dr. Tom Harrison. Burial will take place immediately following the service in Bistineau Baptist Church Cemetery in Heflin, Louisiana.

Honoring Walter as pallbearers will be John Beadles, Michael Beadles, Benjamin Beadles, Gary Long, Gary Smithey, and Johnny Smithey.
