SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services for Walter Albert Wallace, Jr., 91, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at NWLA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville with Jerry Hodge, Minister of University Church of Christ officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, December 21 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Walter was born on January 4, 1924 in Enid, OK to Walter Albert Wallace, Sr. and Alice Mae Wallace. Walter proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. He served in the South Pacific, Philippines, New Caledonia and Japan. Walter was the owner and operator of Quality Cabinets and retired after serving his community for over 50 years. Walter was a master carpenter who was passionate about his work. He was a devout Christian, a faithful member of University Church of Christ, and was proud to serve as deacon for 42 years. The greatest passion in his life was his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters and grandson, Wesley K. Wallace. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Twyanna; sons, Walter A. Wallace III and wife, Judy, Brent Wallace and wife, Pat; daughter, Marsha Lewis and husband, Ernie; grandchildren, Brittany Wallace, Hailey Lewis, Shelby Lewis, Josh Lewis, Christian Hollis, and Clay Hollis; great-granddaughters, Haven Parsley and Addison Hollis and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Honoring Walter as pallbearers are Matt Ponder, Brance Shaw, Todd Strealy, Eric Bates, David Bates, and Chris Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley K. Wallace, Bobby Hounsel, and Carl Bates.
The family would like say a special thanks to the staff at The Oaks of Louisiana for all the care, love and support they gave and our deepest gratitude to Dr. Craig Miller and Dr. Richard Kamm, Jr. for the excellent care they gave.
