Wanda Jean Calvert Harris
Funeral services for Wanda Jean Calvert Harris, 92, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to time of service on Wednesday.
Reverend Carl Rhodes and Jim DeGraffenreid will conduct the services.
Interment will be at the Mansfield Cemetery.
Wanda was born April 4, 1924 in Gilmer, TX to Dollye B. and Willis Evans Calvert. She grew up and lived the majority of her life in Mansfield. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.A. degree in music. She married Joseph Warren Harris on March 8, 1947. She was active at the United Methodist Church in Mansfield where she was the choir director for many years.
Wanda and Warren were married for 69 years being totally devoted to the other, their children and grand children.
Survivors include two sons, Warren Lockridge Harris and wife, Fay; Robert Louis Harris and wife, Tricia both of Lafayette. One daughter, Laurie DeGraffenreid and husband, James of Porter, TX; one sister, Martha Calvert of Mansfield, LA; one brother, David Calvert and wife, Peggy of Frederick, CO. Grand children: Cassady Harris, Cody Harris, Megan Webber, Sara Webber, Lauren D. Hephner, Jaune D. Little, Corrie DeGraffenreid, Kristen Harris, Brook Gauthreaux, and Brennan Gauthreaux. Three great-grand children: Emma Harris, Abigail Hephner and Rhett Lachney.
She was preceded in death by her parents Willis Evans Calvert and Dollye B. Lucius; step-mother, Fern M. Calvert; one brother, Walter B. Calvert; one son, Joseph Calvert Harris; one grandson, Lockridge Pace Harris.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Blake at Lafayette for their kind and loving care that was given to Wanda during her stay there.
