Wilda Cantrell Barber

Wilda Annette Cantrell Barber passed away from this life on January 25, 2024. Funeral services will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport, LA at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 with visitation preceding the service starting at 11:00 a.m. Wilda will be laid to rest at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport.
 

Wilda was born on March 11, 1926 in Shreveport, the daughter of Carrie Youngblood and Percy O. Cantrell. Wilda attended local schools and graduated from Fair Park High School in 1943. She married Grady Barber on February 8, 1945 and enjoyed 69 wonderful years with him. Wilda was a devoted wife and mother. She and Grady were residents of Greenwood, LA for 36 years and faithfully attended First Baptist Greenwood. Wilda was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
 
Wilda is preceded in death by her husband, Grady Pierce Barber; her parents, Carrie and P.O. Cantrell; and her sister, Mildred Cantrell Hearn. She is survived by her son, Richard Grady Barber; daughter, Carol Ann Barber and husband, Tim Wiesmann; grandsons, William Clark Mitchell and wife, April, and Byron Barber Mitchell and wife, Chasidy; great-grandchildren, Addison, Bryce, Rebekah and Brandon; brother, Robert Cantrell and wife, Dru; and numerous other extended family members.
