Will Henry Teasley
Arcadia - Will Henry Teasley was born February 24, 1916, in the Bear Creek area of Bienville Parish and entered into rest on September 27, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 81 years, Virginia Bounds Teasley; daughters Barbara Bookamer and Rosemary Jensen; son Billy Ray; 4 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Clora; his sister Inez Bott; and his brother Raymond.
Will Henry's family moved from Bear Creek to a farm in Bryceland when he was 12 years old. He graduated from Bryceland High School in 1934. He played basketball in high school and also played the guitar.
Will Henry was an excellent mechanic-automobile and airplane. His airplane skills took him to California twice to work in the aircraft industry helping build and maintain military planes. He and Virginia returned to Bryceland in 1963 and built a home just a short distance from where he grew up. Will Henry worked for the State Highway Department in Arcadia for 15 years before retiring.
In retirement, he loved his home, his garden, and his church--Bryceland Baptist. He volunteered for many years twice a week at the Baptist Nursing Home (now Leslie Lakes) leading the singing for the Thursday and Sunday church services. He also led the singing at his own church until he was about 90 years old. He had no formal music training, but had a beautiful voice up until just a few weeks before he passed.
There will be a viewing from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia. Graveside services will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bryceland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
