Willard E. Charrier, Sr.

Willard E. \"Bill\" Charrier, Sr. Willard E. Charrier, Sr., 89, was called home to Heaven on March 10, 2016. We will miss him but rejoice that he is with Christ. Bill was born at the family home on Big Bend in Bordelonville, LA to Edward and Dolie Charrier. At 17, he graduated from Bordelonville High School and with his parents' written permission, he joined the United States Navy to become part of the "Greatest Generation". After the end of World War II, he joined the Army Corps of Engineers and helped build the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and Bodcau Dam. He married Betty Warner in October 1949. She preceded him in death in 1993. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evelyn Charrier and Lodie Tassin. Our precious Daddy/Pop/Granddaddy is survived by the family he loved and nurtured: his daughter, Becky Charrier; his son, Bill and wife Diann; his sister, Katie C. Bellipani; his grandchildren, Logan McCoy; Blake Charrier and Brittani Tilley; Lindsay M. Smith and husband Will; Brandon Charrier and wife Lauren. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Skylar, Lux, Connor, Camille, Landru, and Levi; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will have a visitation at Rose-Neath Marshall St. Funeral Home on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. A celebration of Bill's life will be held Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Dave Baker officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Forest Park West Cemetery. Honoring Bill as pallbearers will be Kevin Anderson, Steve Bosher, Lynn Craig, Reggie Farley, Ronnie Hurd, and Buster Reynolds. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard St., Monroe, LA 71203. The family wishes to thank the 400 wing staff of the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home for the excellent care Bill received.
