Funeral services honoring the life of William "Bill" Blankenship will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, 520 Herndon St, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church. Officiating the service will be Reverend Max Zehner and Reverend Kaylan Waler. Interment will immediately follow the service in Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana.
Bill Blankenship was born January 10, 1946 in Little Rock, Arkansas to William B. Blankenship and Dorothy Mae Dollar Blankenship and passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Bill went to the Arkansas Children's Colony in Little Rock, Arkansas. He married Martha Sue Britton Blankenship on June 28, 1986, even though the odds were against them. He worked for the Arc Caddo- Bossier from 1966 until 1996 as a janitor and retired after 30 years. Bill loved shopping, fishing, watching TV and visiting his neighbors. He loved going to church and telling others about his Lord and Savior. To know him was to love him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert T. Blankenship; and special friend, Susie Maxey.
Left to cherish his memory are his cousins, Gary and Amanda Lairmore of Little Rock, AR; sister-in-law, Brenda Blue of North Texas; and special friends, Tammy Smith, Catherine Carey, Marva Ashley, Ruby Steward and Larry Henderson.
Honoring Bill as pallbearers will be Dennis Bell, Mario Blake, Ryant Craig, Chis Hackler, William Jackson, and Alfred Smith.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Cesar Cazares, Bill Gibson, Eddie Grant, Larry Henderson, Joseph Hickman, and Rick Lee.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Arc Caddo-Bossier, 351 Jordan St, Shreveport, LA 71101 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
