SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for William Martin Blaxton, 90, will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Bill was born on November 16, 1924 and passed away on December 30, 2014. He graduated high school, attended Centenary, and served our country in the US Army during WWII. Bill went to work for continental EMSCO oilfield supply in Shreveport and then went to Singapore Asia Division. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Blaxton; sister, Marion V. Rowell; parents, John W. and Marion V. Blaxton; brothers-in-law, Mick Netherton and Wallace Rowell. He is survived by his daughters, Linda B. Hay and husband Frank and Connie J. Smithpeter and husband Mike; three grandchildren, Bryan and Katie Smithpeter, and Kimberly D. Saffel and her husband Bob; two great-grandchildren, Haleigh and Colton Martinez; sister-in-law, Betty Faye Netherton; and niece, Dollie Knoerr and husband, Mike. Pallbearers will be David Netherton, Bobby Saffel, Bryan Smithpeter, Don Netherton, Richard Martinez, Bert Mercer, and Herschel Cobb. Rose-Neath Southside 2500 Southside Drive318-687-1256
