William Clay Calhoun

A Memorial Service for William Clay Calhoun, 65, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Officiating the service will be Dr. Greg Davis.

Clay was born on August 11, 1959 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed Monday, September 30, 2024.

Clay graduated C.E. Byrd High School in 1978. He worked in the family insurance business for 20 years before moving to Covington, Louisiana to work in the restaurant industry for 15 years. He was an avid football fan, cheering on his favorite teams, the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. He loved the game of golf and played wherever he could. He enjoyed spending happy hour with his close friends as well as traveling. In his later years, he found the Lord and was an avid reader of the bible. He always appreciated his friends who came by to visit and enjoyed their talks and laughter. Clay always had a big smile and a positive attitude.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fielder Calhoun and Suzanne Calhoun. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Helen Turner and husband, Harold; brother, Lawrence Calhoun and wife, Connie; nephews, Taylor Calhoun and wife, Jessica, Logan Calhoun and wife, Caroline and Justin Turner; great-nieces, Lilly, Veronica and Carolina; great-nephews, Nicholas, Bryson and John Ivan and good friend, Renette Hammett.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Randy Drott, John Burge, John Jordan, Mike Daugherty, Bob Sapanski, Rob Wheelahan, Chad Ledbetter, Russ Smith, Eddie Higdon, Matt Rosenblath, Randy Cormier, Bob Mead, Dennis Sherman, Danny Lex, David Stallard, Steve Vickers, Lance Hudson, Byron Trust, Bryan McDonald, Robert Bolin, David Bolton and Pat Harper.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Christopher Reeve Foundation, christopherreeve.org or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
