SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of William D. Dalton, 78, will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Lee Jackson. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on December 12, at the funeral home. Don was born on August 17, 1937 in Robeline to Willie P. and Maudie Dalton and passed away on December 10, 2015. Don had a strong Christian faith and family. He was a devoted, loving husband and father for 56 years. Don was retired from the Army and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He received a Good Conduct Medal, and Carbine Marksman and Sharpshooter Certificates. Don believed in living life to the fullest and made the most of every day. He enjoyed music, playing his guitar and singing with his sister since childhood. Don was also a grillmaster and loved smoking meats for family and friends. Don spent 15 years volunteering with the Shreveport Police Department as an auxiliary office and liaison, and loved every single minute of serving his community. Most important Don loved his family, friends and community. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Don is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Dalton, both sons, Donnie Dalton and James Dalton, parents, brothers, and a sister. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cynthia Sturgeon and husband, Dave; sister, Rachel Tynes, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family would like to say a special thanks to all of the caregivers and loved ones for all the love, care, and support they have given.
