William Franklin Farley

William Franklin Farley, 91, a resident of Shreveport, LA, went to his house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens on Thursday, April 2, 2015. Mr. Farley was born in Prague, Oklahoma on August 19, 1923, son of James Hiram Farley and wife, Mamie. He attended Oklahoma A&M College, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Farley was an Army Air Corp veteran and B-24 pilot during WWII. He flew 19 missions in the European Theatre, of which he was shot down four times, and was a surviving prisoner of war. After his active service, he went on to work for the FAA as an air traffic controller and retired after 33 years of service. Mr. Farley was a man of few words, but the words he spoke were always profound. He had a smart, witty sense of humor. He was a very humble man who believed his heroic and courageous actions during his time at war were no different than what any other man would have done. He was a beautiful and treasured influence in this life. He loved his family tremendously and was an amazingly kind, patient, and compassionate man. He spent his life devoted to his faith in God, family, and wife of 57 years. He is survived by his children; two sons, John Farley of Lafayette, LA, and Bill Farley and wife Mina, of Shreveport, LA; one daughter, Mamie Farley of Shreveport, LA; his wife's children, Joseph, Hope, and Mary Lemoine, all of Lafayette, LA; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. The family of Mr. Farley wishes to thank Dr. Richard Sipes, of Cardinal Care, MD and St. Joseph Hospice. Very special thanks to his grandson, David Hagar and wife Pam, and caretakers, Kathy Holland and Cynthia Jacobs, who worked tirelessly to keep him comfortable through his last breath.
