William Columbus Frazier Jr., 89, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 18, 2018. Funeral Services honoring the life of W.C. will be held at Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel on Monday, May 21 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Larry Pridmore, Pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. preceding the service. Burial will be at Mansfield Cemetery following the service.
W.C. was born on November 26, 1928 in Mansfield, LA to Mattie Bell Prothro Frazier of Pleasant Hill, LA and William Columbus Frazier, Sr. of Mansfield, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Mansfield and a graduate of Mansfield High School. He joined Southside Baptist Church (formerly Second Baptist Church) at the age of 12, when he accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized.
W.C. was a retired Buck Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force who served his country during the Korean War. Early in his employment career, he worked at Hargett's grocery and the Cotton Warehouse in Mansfield. In 2013, he retired from the place where many knew him best, The Mansfield Enterprise, where he assisted in production and creating ads. W.C. had a love for art from drawing cartoons to the beautiful pieces of scrimshaw he carved into ivory. He enjoyed creating new works of art but his greatest love came with the stroke of the brush displayed in many of the paintings he created in his lifetime for others to cherish.
W.C. was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Milton Wayne Frazier; sister, Carolyn Jean Frost and husband, Nelson; cousin and best friend, Buster Prothro.
He is survived by his nephew, Jeffery Frost of California; granddaughter Lori Whatley and husband David of Mansfield along with other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Hall, David Whatley, Joshua Whatley and Blake Whatley.
On behalf of the family, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to Superior Hospice and the staff of Mansfield Nursing Center for all of their love and care during Mr. Frazier's time as a resident there.
