Funeral services will be held for W.J. “Bill” Gilliand, age 88, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Homer, LA, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Danny Baskin, officiating. Interment will be at Olive Branch Methodist Cemetery near Junction City, AR, with honor guards. Visitation will be at the church from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service.

Bill was born September 25, 1934, in Elmore, AL, to John and Francis Blankenship Gilliand. He entered into rest on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in Lafayette, LA. Bill served the country he loved during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing around Lake Claiborne and Toledo Bend. Bill dearly adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and making memories with them. Spending time with the grands teaching them hunting and fishing skills.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Virginia Huddleston Gilliand of Lafayette, LA; three daughters, Lee Barton and husband Bob of Arabie, LA, Jan McKenzie of Lafayette, LA, and Pam Greber and husband Tony of Youngsville, LA; son, Steven McKenzie and Angela of Benton, LA; two grandchildren, Dr. Eric Greber and wife Lauren and Ashlee Schexnyder; six great-grandchildren, Luke Greber, John William Greber, James Greber, Genevieve Greber, Greyson Schexnyder, and Adelyn Schexnyder; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bill’s family would like to express their gratitude to family and friends for the care and compassion given him over the years.

Pallbearers will be Steven McKenzie, Dr. Eric Greber, Tony Greber, and Bob Barton.

Honorary pallbearers will be MCAT Members.

In lieu of flowers honoring Bill, his family suggests memorials be made to Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.
