Yvonne Owen Douglas

Yvonne Owen Douglas, 92, of Haughton, Louisiana entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 13, 2023. Yvonne was born on April 19, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Thomas E. Owen and Christine Owen.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home-2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana 71118. Funeral services honoring the life of Yvonne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in 5850 Buncombe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71129. Officiating the service will be Bro. Mike Stowell. Interment will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery-4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, LA 71109.

Yvonne married the love of her life, Earl Douglas on April 17, 1954. She graduated from Louisiana College with her degree in music. In 2001, she retired as an accountant from McElroy Metal. Yvonne was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she played the organ for 50 years. She was very active in her church and loved attending. Back in their younger days, Earl and Yvonne enjoyed taking trips with the youth group.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Christine Owen; husband, Earl Douglas; sister, Geraldine Owen; and brother, Harold Owen. She is survived by her daughters, Jamie Harris and husband Jamey, and Jill Pilinski and husband John; grandchildren, Shelby Pilinski Solano and husband Louie and Jonathan Pilinski; great-grandchildren, Vada and Amelia.

Honoring Yvonne as pallbearers will be Pascal Stowell, Scott Martin, Lonnie Gilley, Steve Gilley, Joey Cleveland, and Dewayne Kelly. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr.  Richard Haynie and staff of St. Joseph Hospice including Kelsey and Haley. A very special thanks to Raynetta and Ashleigh for taking such great care of her.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or Emmanuel Baptist Church.
