Zelda Everett Simmons, 91, of Shreveport, LA passed away peacefully on the morning of October 15, 2014. She was born June 13, 1923 in Clarksdale, Mississippi and moved to Shreveport in 1933. She graduated from Fair Park High School and was a member of Queensborough Baptist Church. Mrs. Simmons was co-owner of B.F. Peyton's Drug Store where she worked for 50 years. She was a long time member of the American Business Woman's Association, and had a passion for gardening. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bert Simmons, and big brother Thomas Everett. She is survived by her daughter, Zelda Simmons Ward of Hurst, TX; her step-daughter, Betty Day of Shreveport, LA; and her brother Curtis Everett of Houston, TX. She has 3 grandchildren, Janice Snyder McKee of Flower Mound, TX; Betsy Snyder Guzman of The Colony, TX, and Randy Snyder of Shreveport, LA. She has numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Pierremont Healthcare Center for their loving care of her. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave. Officiating will be her great-grandson Rusty McKee. Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, LA.
