Alice Lynne Ritter

A Memorial Service for Alice Lynne Ritter, age 78 of Shreveport, LA, will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, LA. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be longtime friend, David Asbill. Alice was born on July 26, 1942 in Muskogee, OK to Aubrey and Vonda Epps and passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Alice never met a stranger and was always game for a discussion. Her unique skill with people helped her have a successful career in sales before pivoting to her ultimate calling as an elementary school teacher. Alice was mentally tough, extremely persuasive, and never afraid to express her opinion. Those qualities were most evident and useful to her as a single mother of three young children for twelve years who was taking night classes to complete her undergraduate degree while working full-time to support her family. Through those challenging years, she taught her children the value of hard work, sacrifice and perseverance. Yet, her most amazing and lasting legacy will be fostering and encouraging her family's love and faith in Jesus Christ. Alice married the love of her life, Kenneth W. Ritter, on June 30, 1989. The two of them became faithful members of the Church of Christ. Ken's devotion and love made the last three decades of Alice's life extremely special. Her love for Ken was unmistakable from the first time they met, and it never waned. He changed her life, and truly was her perfect match. Alice was a dedicated, loving and protective mother. She valued family and had an unwavering faith in the goodness of her children, even when, perhaps, they did not deserve it. The most amazing transformation occurred when Alice became a grandmother. Her grandchildren brought out her softer side. It was a joy to see how proud she was to be a grandmother and how especially proud she was of her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of nearly 32 years, Kenneth W. Ritter; her only sister, Ann Richardson; sons, Brance Shaw and wife, Tarzah and Matt Ponder and wife, Leslie; daughters, Paige Benton and husband, Jeff, Olivia Pletl and husband, Rob and Jamie LeBlanc and husband, Joey; grandchildren, Madison, Jacob, Jake, Josie, Teddy, Zoe, Benjamin, Zachary and Samuel and a host of cousins, extended family members and friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brent Wallace, Walter Wallace, Ernie Lewis, Benjamin Ponder, Zachary Ponder and Samuel Ponder. The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Gone but not forgotten.
