Graveside services for Dorothy Ann Garner McLarty, 80, will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Longview, Texas. A visitation will be held Friday, March 12, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Bob Moore. Ann was born on January 8, 1941 to Ivan Franklin Garner and Phyllis Ruth Steckling in Winfield, Kansas and passed away on March 6, 2021 in Shreveport. Ann married Jerry McLarty in 1962 in Lubbock, Texas. They spent the first 17 years of married life in Houston, Texas. They moved to Tyler, Texas in 1979 and lived there until 2002 when they moved to Shreveport. Ann studied horticulture and enjoyed working with plants and flowers. She volunteered in the gift shop at University of Texas Health Science Center in Tyler for many years. She spent the last 11 years taking care of her youngest two grandchildren, Fiona and Luke. Ann is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Garner, Jr.; sister, Marjorie Wallace; and son, Richard McLarty. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jerry W. McLarty; sister, Frances Newman and husband, Sam; daughter, Jeri Perez and husband, Andrew; granddaughters, Jennifer Doyle, Ami Parker and husband, Chance, Brandi Blevins and husband, Corey, Christi McLarty, and Fiona Perez; grandson, Luke Perez; great-granddaughters, Alivia Parker and Everly Blevins; great-grandsons, Richard and Rowan Doyle and Carter McLarty; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the American Cancer Society or Serendipity Pet Rescue in Shreveport, Louisiana.
