Betty Jean Canham

Betty Jean (Durham) Canham passed away on May 21, 2021 at the age of 88. Betty was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on September 27, 1932 to Hicks and Virginia Durham, graduating from C.E. Byrd High School. She attended North Texas State College before transferring to LSU in Baton Rouge where she received a Bachelor of Science from the College of Commerce. Betty is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and friend. While working in Dallas she met the love of her life, Dave Canham. During their marriage, she built lasting relationships through church activities. She was a faithful servant to the Lord, loved studying God's word, praying for friends and family, gardening, reading, and playing the piano. She moved back to Shreveport and was a long-time member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, David William Canham, Jr. and survived by her daughter, Sandra Lee Bandy (Lewis C. Bandy) of Evans, GA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Vincent in Shreveport, Louisiana. Executive Pastor Dr. Tom Harrison will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, Betty would want donations to be made to FaithCare Free Medical Clinic, c/o Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 North Belair Road, Evans, GA 30809 or to Shriner's Hospital for Children (donation), 3100 Samford Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71103.
