Delores Cecil Threlkeld Harbuck, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, after a long and fulfilling life. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 21, 1933, graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1952, and received her B.A. degree in English from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1956. Del was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Charles Harbuck, and her parents, Russell Lee Threlkeld and Maxyne McLendon Threlkeld. She is survived by her four sons, Jonathan Scott Harbuck and his wife, Stacy, Edwin Seth Harbuck, Charles Adam Harbuck II and his wife, Sherry and Christopher Lee Harbuck and his wife, Ashley; grandchildren, Commander Andrew Wolfe Harbuck, MD, USN, and his wife, Rosemary, Leighton Harbuck Jones and her husband, DeWitt, Taylor Harbuck Ferrell and her husband, Marshall, Charles "Chad" Adam Harbuck III, Palmer Leigh Harbuck and Christopher "Kit" Lee Harbuck, Jr. and six great-grandchildren, Anne and Lucille Harbuck, McLendon and Owens Jones, John Marshall and Rand Ferrell. Del was an enthusiastic gardener and a member of the Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners Club. She was an avid reader, often finishing several books a week and attending her book club for decades. She was a member of the Centenary Muses, and she faithfully volunteered her time to the Centenary Book House in her later years. Del's greatest devotion was to her late husband of 55 years, Ed, to whom she was attached from the time they met as students at Byrd High. She was his greatest asset, a gracious hostess who played a vital role in his professional, business, and civic life. In return, he always reserved his most eloquent tributes for her. Over the years they traveled widely, and cultivated lasting friendships in many of the countries they visited. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Shreveport. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Rhoads and Dr. Ashley Goad. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in the Couch Chapel Parlor at First United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank Del's devoted caretaker and dear friend, Ms. Faye Demery, for her unsurpassed graciousness. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Centenary College of Louisiana, 2911 Centenary Blvd., Shreveport, LA 71104, First United Methodist Church, 500 Common St., Shreveport, LA 71101, First Baptist Church School, 533 Ockley Dr., Shreveport, LA 71106 or the charity of one\'s choice.
