Funeral Services for Evelyn Spurlock will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Hurricane Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro. Bob Jameson. A visitation will be held Friday February 26, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Evelyn Spurlock, age 100, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
Evelyn was born on January 10, 1921 to Clifton Hicks and Ethel Perritt Hicks.
Evelyn loved working in her yard and cooking. One of her favorite times was when the whole family got together for the holidays. She will be remembered for her chicken and dressing and for all the desserts that she would have during the holidays.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Her strong faith in God carried her through many trials and tribulations. Her strength in God gave her comfort and peace. She loved God with all her heart and lived every day for his glory.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton (Bud) M. Spurlock; son, Jack Spurlock; son-in-law, Danny Volentine; one brother and four sisters.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Dianne Spurlock Volentine; son, Terry Spurlock; and daughter-in-law, Anna Spurlock. Grandchildren; Leann Volentine Chambers and husband Richard; Kevin Volentine; Nancy Spurlock Thomas and husband Lance, Suzanne Spurlock Blackwelder and husband Pat and Jarred Spurlock, and wife Vanessa; 11 great-grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our mother and grandmother had once stated that she had lived a long life and accomplished everything she set out to do. She also stated that she was proud of the family she had and was happy.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Spigener, Buzzy Buckner, Jim Spurlock, Sno Spurlock, David Liles and Ardis Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Boy Volentine, Kevin Volentine, Jarred Spurlock, Patrick Blackwelder, Lance Thomas and Richard Chambers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana, 8200 Hampson Street #425, New Orleans, Louisiana 70118. In honor of Kevin Volentine and Ashton Blackwelder.
