A graveside service for Iris Smith Green will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana at 10:00 a.m. Officiating the service will be Reverend John Harp.
Iris was born on August 23, 1931 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Varney Elbert Smith and Ruth Buchanan Smith and passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She was a graduate of C. E. Byrd High School and married William Harrison Green on February 17, 1951. She worked as a civilian in the United States Air Force and for a brief time with Schlumberger until she went home to be with her family. Wanting to get back into the work force, she went to work for Hamby Auto Supply. She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church, Westside Baptist Church and Brookwood Baptist Church, where she taught teens and young women Sunday school. She enjoyed baking cakes as a part time business, whether it was for a birthday party or a wedding, she was delighted to be a part.
Iris is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, William Harrison Green; sisters, Wanda Hamby and Peggy Stuckmeyer. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gary Allen Green and wife, Cay; daughter, Nancy Green Gilcrease and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Lindsay Green Abernathy and husband, Scott, A. Taylor Green and wife, Whitney, W. Cody Gilcrease and wife, Kari and J. Casey Gilcrease and wife, Jacqueline and great-grandchildren, Jaden B. Procell, Jackson B. Procell, Maximus J. Abernathy, Wrigley A. Green and Ivy A. Green.
Honoring Iris as pallbearers will be A. Taylor Green, Scott Abernathy, W. Cody Gilcrease, J. Casey Gilcrease, Jaden B. Procell, Jackson B. Procell and Maximus J. Abernathy.
