Officiating the service will be Pastor Roger Morton of Barron Road Baptist Church. Jan was born on September 24, 1939 to Leon and Ruby Swann in Chattanooga, Tennessee and passed away on March 22, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana after a sudden unexpected illness. Nana, as she is lovingly called by many who knew her, had resided in Keithville most of her married life. One of her favorite places on earth was the mountains of Tennessee. Nana spent her entire life caring for others, as a Registered Nurse, retiring from the Caddo Parish Health Unit and continuing by caring for her in-laws and spouse. She found great joy in helping her grandchildren each morning before school, times which they will remember and treasure forever. We are so thankful she was able to know and love her first great-grandchild. For many years Nana had been a very active member of Grace Community UMC and especially enjoyed her friends in Years of Grace and the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Ministry. In recent years Nana had found her church home at Barron Road Baptist Church which she dearly loved. Over the past few days the common phrases have been "she lit up a room", "the sweetest person I know" and numerous references to her memorable smile and laughter. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Earl Montgomery, Jr. and sisters, Ann Coffelt and Marian Helinske. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Lawrence Montgomery III and wife, Michelle and Ron Montgomery and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Mallory Montgomery Patterson and husband, Chase, Andrew Montgomery and Madison Montgomery; one great-grandson, Ward James Patterson; brother-in-law, Jack Montgomery and wife, Catherine and numerous nieces and nephews. Honoring Jan as pallbearers will be Andrew Montgomery, Chase Patterson, Aaron Navarre, Kenneth Frazier, Paul Navarre and Jeff White. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Todd Grisham and Travis Grisham. The family suggests memorials may be made to Barron Road Baptist Church, 1102 Barron Road, Keithville, Louisiana 71047.
