A Memorial Service for Jeri Lane Thompson Kouns of Shreveport, LA, will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 500 Common St., Shreveport, LA. A private family burial at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent will precede the service. Dr. Carl Rhoads will be officiating. Jeri was born on July 18, 1931 to Virgil Vivian Thompson and Jennie Mae Logan Thompson in Cotton Valley, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. After graduating high school, Jeri attended Louisiana Tech University, where she was recognized for her beauty inside and out as Louisiana Tech's Homecoming Queen and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Upon graduation, Jeri moved to Shreveport and met the love of her life, Sinclair Bert Kouns. They were happily married for 46 years until Sinclair's passing in November of 2000. Jeri's love for faith, family, friends and charity was never-ending. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and her loyalty was unwavering. Jeri was a member of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport for 65 years, teaching Sunday School and acting as a member of the Church Council. She was a realtor respected for her professionalism and dedication to her clients. She will be missed terribly by all her family and friends. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Kouns. She is survived by her children, Leigh Kouns Hunter of Dallas, TX, Sinclair Bert Kouns Jr. and wife, Candace of Baton Rouge, LA and Merrill Kouns Berry and husband, Lee of Shreveport, LA and grandchildren, Evan Ransdell Hunter, Sinclair Bert Kouns III, Alan Lee Berry, Anna Claire Kouns, Oscar Lee Berry IV and Thompson Sinclair Berry. Jeri's family would like to express special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Beverly Garrett, Marva C. Ashley, Sean Fleming, Johnella Gipson, Paula E. Linnear, Tracy Richardson and the entire staff of St. Joseph Hospice- Shreveport, for all of their love, help, and support.
