Joy was born August 31, 1950 in Shreveport, LA and went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2018. Joy was a faithful member of Rose Park Baptist Church for nearly three decades. Over the years, she served in the nursery, worked with youth, cooked Wednesday night suppers, and volunteered whenever needed. Joy enjoyed antiquing, hosting gatherings, and spending time with her family. She had a feisty spirit mixed with a servant's heart. She loved deeply, gave generously, and took on the role of "Mom" to numerous kids throughout the years. Home, surrounded by those she loved, was her favorite place to be. Her laugh and love will be greatly missed, but she is now resting safely in her Heavenly Father's arms.
Joy was preceded in death by her mother, Lila Holder Sims and father, James Earl Bumgardner. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles "Chuck" Weiland; children, Chris Weiland (Alicia) and Kimberly Dennis (Jonathan); grandchildren, Keaton Weiland (Anna), Charles Dennis, Hunter Soyez, and Kali Soyez; great-granddaughter, Kaelynn Joy Weiland; sister, Janet Harris; uncle, Bill Holder (Shirley); and nieces, Ashley Newberry and Stephanie Williams.
Honoring Joy as pallbearers will be Keaton Weiland, David Jackson, Glenn Jackson, Link Abraham, Jeff Smith, and Joe Sepulvado.
