Lois Wells Lacy

On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, Lois Wells Lacy, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was called home to be with her Lord. Lois, also known as \"Mommars\" to her family and loved ones, passed peacefully in the early morning hours at Willis-Knighton Pierremont. Lois was born in Smith County, Mississippi on January 8, 1919, to Arthur and Ida Wells. In 1941, while attending Nursing School, she met W.O. Lacy and the couple were soon married on April 16, 1941. They made a home in Shreveport, Louisiana where Lois was the proprietor of a small grocery store in the Queensborough area. Lois was passionate about her close relationship with the Lord and worked with the Billy Graham crusade in the early years of their marriage. In the 1950\'s W.O. and Lois moved to Rocky Mount, Louisiana, where they purchased a beautiful piece of land, built their home, raised a family with their son Curtis, and realized a dream of running a family ranch. Lois and W.O. were both active in the Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in Ivan, Louisiana. With each teaching Sunday school and serving the Lord wherever needed for many years. Following the death of W.O. in 2002, Lois continued her faithful service to the Lord, becoming active in a prison ministry and hosting bible study in her home. Lois would not allow the pandemic to halt her witness for the Lord, continuing with phone ministry despite challenges brought on by COVID 19. Lois celebrated her 100th birthday with the community. Family and friends filled the Pilgrim Home Baptist Church gymnasium and expressed their thoughts and wishes with an outpouring of love, music, and good food. Her 102nd birthday was an intimate celebration complete with good food, family, and close friends, with a surprise visit from grandson Heath Deen, in from Austin, Texas. Lois is survived by her granddaughter, Karen Brock and husband, Brad; daughter-in law, Elizabeth Sheppard; grandson, Heath Deen and wife, Blanca and three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Liam and Valentina. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Joan Carraway and husband, Charles, and her family, whose support enabled Lois to remain living in her home. The family also wishes to extend their sincere and humbling gratitude for the support of so many close friends, too numerous to list, in the community, whose love and support also enabled Lois to live in the home she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Lacy; their son, William Curtis Lacy; her parents, Arthur and Ida Prince Wells; sisters, Zula Green, Eula Ingram, Dorilla Johnson, Belle Stewart, Beatrice Hampton, Pricilla Hollaway and Linnie Smith and brother, Harmon Wells. The family wish to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Attila Balogh, M.D. and to Dr. Wen Liu, M.D. and the medical and support staff at Willis-Knighton Bossier and Pierremont as well as Promise Hospital staff and Louisiana Home Health for their many years of care. In observance with COVID 19 guidelines, a private graveside memorial will be conducted by Brother Tommy Jones from Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in Ivan, Louisiana at the Rocky Mount Cemetery.
