Nathan Paul Shull was born on July 11,1977 in Tucson, Arizona and departed this earthly life on April 29, 2021 in Minden, Louisiana.

Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Shull. He is survived by his mother Rachel Shull of Minden; sons Reid Hadley of Houston, Delaware, Brody Luke Shull and Silas Paul Shull of Minden; two sisters, Anna Booher and husband Craig of Middletown, Connecticut and Jessica Adams and husband Joe of Minden, Louisiana ; grandmother Helen Williams, of Tucson, Arizona; nieces and nephews Lauren, Joseph, Josiah, Rebekah, Samuel, Caroline and Aliyah.

Nathan and his father, mother and two sisters moved to Louisiana when he was 5 years and he grew up in Minden, while attending church at Evening Light Tabernacle.  He attended Mount Olive Christian School and was a graduate of Sibley High School Class of 1995. He then graduated from the United States Naval Academy as a member of the Class of 1999, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.  He was an Infantry Officer and participated in the invasion of Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Combat V). Captain Shull also was awarded for meritorious service while deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning stateside, he graduated from the University of San Diego with a Masters Degree, and served as a Series Commander at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. He was proud to serve his country and fellow Marines.  After separating from the military, he was employed as a medical sales representative for several cranial, orthopedic and spinal implant companies, living in California, Oklahoma and Louisiana. He later became foreman for Shull Tree Service, where he enjoyed the challenges both physically and mentally of taking trees down safely and efficiently. He had the same skills and mechanical ingenuity as his father, and loved challenges, being very goal oriented. His greatest joy though, was undeniably his boys. He loved being with them, taking them fishing, camping, playing with them and spending time with them. He was so looking forward to making more memories with them, and we with him.  Although his passing is sudden, we know and believe that God has a plan for each of us. We trust His infinite wisdom and care, even when we don’t understand it. That is what faith is all about.  We will miss him tremendously but know the circle will not be broken over there.

Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana on Friday, May 7, 2021 between 5:00 and 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday May 8, 2021 at 1:00pm at Evening Light Tabernacle, 17500 Highway 371, Minden, with graveside burial to follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden.
