ROBERT B. "BOB" "BATCAT" MALONE   BENTON, LA - A Memorial Service for Robert B. "Bob" "BatCat" Malone, 75, will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA. Robby Thomas will be officiating. Bob was born on December 8, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas to Robert G. and Rosemary Bunkley Malone and passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 in Benton, Louisiana. He was a graduate of the Class of '64 of L. D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas. Bob remained close to his classmates for 57 years after graduation. In November of 1964, Bob became a proud member of the United States Air Force, going on to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He was an inflight electronic technician, flying over and monitoring the enemy on the Ho-Chi-Minh trail. His aircraft was filled with crypto-radio, electronic warfare, and monitoring equipment. He loaded the codes and monitoring system and maintained it during long grueling flights of 12-14 hours. He flew over 100 missions with more than 1000 flight hours and was awarded the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters signifying "Meritorious Achievement" in aerial flight. His group that he served with were the "BatCats," and they remained close until his death. Upon discharge from the Air Force in November of 1970, Bob spent many years selling application software for various companies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. His position resulted in him being very high tech and knowledgeable about anything relating to computers and software. After retiring from that industry, he bought a Kwik Kar business in Carrollton, Texas as a retirement job that turned out to be about 80 hours a week! In June of 2014 while attending a Harley Rally in Hot Springs, Arkansas, he met Martha who was there on a "Girls' Spa Trip". Both had enjoyed being single for many years and were not looking for a mate, but it was truly love at first sight and a match made in heaven. From that time on they were never separated. He sold his Kwik Kar business and became a Louisiana guy, loving crawfish and Mardi Gras. They returned the following June to Hot Springs to marry at the Old Mill Wedding Chapel. Their families blended and they built a beautiful life together, sharing a love everyone dreams of having. Bob was a true gentleman biker and had owned 14 Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was an original member and had recently retired as the National Treasurer of the Invictus LE Motorcycle Club and had the road name of "BatCat" and Martha "BatKitty". He felt a Brotherhood with all the Invictus members, and he and Martha shared a lot of great trips and good times with the group. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Donna Harlowe, and a stepdaughter Sherri McIntosh. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend Martha Rousset Malone and his beloved Golden Retriever Sadie Girl; daughters Traci Ice (Rick), Cindy Thomison; stepson Stephen Rousset (Hope); stepdaughters Nicole Williams (Charlie) and Lyn Martin (Mike); niece Debra Thornton; brother-in-law Bud Maxwell (Melinda); 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Fitzpatrick, Dennis Johnson, Ray Morrison, Tom Pera, Dan Brust, Ronnie Dean, Pierre Rousset and the members of The Invictus LE Motorcycle Club. Bob cherished his wife, family and friends and could be depended on for anything especially good humor. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have had him in their lives.
