Funeral services for Rose Mary Andrews, 78, will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Road, Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Harrell Shelton and Pastor Tommy Patton. Rose Mary was born in Clark County, Arkansas to Mack and Vera Dillard on August 15, 1942 and passed away at her home on Friday, June, 18, 2021in Bossier City, Louisiana. Rose Mary is survived by her son, Kevin Andrews; daughter, Karen Widaman and husband, Ethan; brother, James Dillard and Doris Mills; niece, Jaime Tobin; nephews, Michael Dillard and wife, Le-Andra and Jeff Dillard and wife, Jennifer; grandchild, Lauryn Bayleigh Widaman and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In 1960, she met her soulmate, Buddy Andrews at the local roller-skating rink. They dated four years while she attended nursing school at Little Rock Baptist Hospital. In 1964 after she graduated, they married and began their life together in Bossier City, Louisiana. They were married 56 years and had two children, Kevin and Karen. Rose Mary worked for more than 30 years as a registered nurse and nursing instructor for the state of Louisiana at Northwest Louisiana Vocational/Technical Institute. She found her true calling caring for people and teaching nursing students. After retiring, she and Buddy often went as volunteers on medical mission trips with Dr. William Bailey all around the world. When they were not on mission trips, they were traveling on extended tours all over the world with other retirees and friends. Rose Mary was an active church member, Sunday school class member and WMU member. She also loved being a member and serving on the Bossier City Mothers Club. Rose Mary enjoyed sewing, reading, photography, working in her flower beds and gardening with Buddy. She loved to cook and can fruits and vegetables they had grown and to share the fruits of their labors with neighbors, family, and friends. She was known as Rose Mary, Rosie, Mom and Aunt Rosie, but her most beloved title was MawMaw. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend but most of all she was a sweet and Godly woman. She always endeavored to be the best Christian example wherever she was. Rose Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Andrews; parents, Mack and Vera Dillard; brother, Mackey Dillard and wife, Sharon and sister-in-law, Diane Dillard. Honoring Rose Mary as pallbearers will be Jared Carter, Kendall Jetton, Mike Olson, Greg Salinas, Todd Walker and Johnathan Walker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the BYKOTA Sunday School class at Cypress Baptist Church. The family would like to express a very special thanks for the love and care that was given to Rose Mary by the following; Dr. P.V. Blanchard and his entire staff, Dr. Anil Chhabra, Dr. Jonathan M. Davis, Mrs. Samantha Olson and the entire staff of Poshe Salon in Bossier City, the entire staff of Brookshires Pharmacy on Pines Road and on Benton Road, Mrs. Debbie Dreher, Mrs. Jackie Martin, Lisa Carson, Veronica Adkins, Barbara Beene and Chris Poindexter, all of Nightingale Hospice, Ms. Rosalyn Brown and family, members of Cypress Baptist Church, Be Ye Kind One To Another Sunday School Class, members of Airline Baptist Church and the special strength, compassion and love of neighbors and friends who are considered family, Todd Walker, Alan Jordan and Lynn Walker.
