A Memorial Service for Senior Master Sergeant Kenneth Francis Maher, USAF Retired, 71, will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, 908 Rutherford Street, Shreveport, Louisiana at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be The Very Reverend Alston Johnson. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport. Kenneth was born on September 17, 1949 to Thomas L. Maher and Helen D. Maher in Staten Island, New York and passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in Shreveport after a long battle with esophageal cancer. He joined the Air Force in 1968 and made it his career. He served in Korea and retired in 1990 as a Senior Master Sergeant with 22 years of service. He was a training devices superintendent for six years and a flight simulator technician for 16 years. He also worked for the United States Postal Service for another 20 years as Supervisor of Labor Relations. No love story is perfect, however, Ken and his beloved wife, Diane, lived their years together and life to the fullest. Ken was a man who strove to do his best in every part of his life. He loved his family immensely, and he loved his country. He joined the Chiropractic Center and managed the clinic for many years. He was the one that everyone wanted on "their team." He completed his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Phoenix and recently completed his Doctorate in Iridology with the intention of working alongside of his wife, Dr. Diane Sino. Ken and his wife traveled extensively. He also loved fly fishing but his favorite hobby was playing golf with his wife, his best friend. Ken is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Thomas Leo Maher. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 15 years, Dr. Diane Sino; son, Kenneth Francis Maher, Jr.; and daughter, Tiffeny Maher Cook; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Zachary Cook; and Godson, Cole Hannaman; brothers, Philip Eugene Maher of Murrieta, California, Barry Lee Maher of Lexington, Kentucky; sisters, Patricia Cotton of Spanish Fort, Alabama and Eileen E. Maher Kline of Staten Island, New York; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Veluvolu and the Oncology Unit at Willis-Knighton, Dr. Ted Warren, and St. Joseph Hospice for the wonderful care and service given to Ken. A special thanks, also, to Louise and Vanessa for the great care and devotion they gave to Ken. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, Caddo-Bossier Cancer Foundation League or Barkus and Meow.
